Vision and Mission
Our Vision
A School That Illuminates
Aurinko, the word means sun in Finnish. And like the sun, we believe a school should illuminate. Not just with knowledge, but with the kind of light that helps a child see who they are, what they are capable of, and what kind of world they want to help build.
Our vision is a school that stays genuinely ahead of its time by staying deeply connected to the child in front of us and the world they are growing into. A place where curiosity is protected, creativity is expected, and every child is taken seriously as a thinker, a maker, and a human being.
We do not want children who have been taught to follow. We want children who have learned to lead with clarity, compassion, and the confidence that comes from truly knowing themselves.
Our Mission
To Nurture the Complete Person
Our mission is to give every child at Aurinko an education that develops their mind, their character, and their sense of purpose.
We do this through learning that is active, personal, and rooted in real experience. Through a community where teachers, parents, and children grow alongside each other. And through a deep respect for each child’s individuality, their pace, their strengths, their particular way of making sense of the world.
- For our children
To leave Aurinko knowing who they are, academically capable, emotionally grounded, and genuinely ready for what comes next. - For our teachers
To teach with purpose and keep growing as educators and as people in a school that values their development as much as their students’. - For our families
To feel that their trust in Aurinko is earned every day through honest communication, genuine care, and a school that is always working to be better.
What We Stand For
The Beliefs That Shape Everything We Do
Aurinko is built on a conviction that runs through every classroom, every conversation, and every decision we make: that the relationship between teacher and child is the most powerful thing in education. Not the curriculum. Not the facilities. The relationship.
We believe children learn best when they are curious, safe, and genuinely engaged, not anxious, passive, or performing for approval. We believe a school should feel like somewhere good to be. And we believe that when a child is truly known by their teachers, they can go further than anyone expected including themselves.
The Logo
A Small Image That Holds a Big Idea
The Aurinko logo is grounded in the co-constructivist philosophy the school is built on the belief that teacher and student learn best when they learn together.
“Tejasvina Navadhitamastu” — May our learning be enlightening.
The sun at the heart of the logo represents knowledge, light that clears the way. Aurinko exists to do the same: to bring clarity, curiosity, and confidence to every child who comes through its doors.
The teacher and children in the logo are dressed plainly and practically ready to work. In classrooms, workshops, farms, and out in the community. Think local, act global.
And the hands, held together, that is the whole point. The relationship between teacher and child, built on trust, reverence, gratitude, friendship, and genuine warmth. That is what every day at Aurinko is made of.
